Elance @ work, why not? Fatou&Ghizlaine

Don't you know that talents can be with you under the same roof?

We all know that Elance is a web platform that enables companies to find, hire and manage Freelance professionals for specific missions and from all over the world.

It is time to be innovative...Elance can get a new way to help companies hire internally highly reactive people for special missions:

- Internal employees
- retired employees (who can be more creative thanks to their experience)
- ex employees
- consultants
- Trainees
- Experienced people from the same field

How does it work?

Elance will propose a software that can allow the company to have a database of all the contacts and employees that are linked to the same company or field.

They work with companies to integrate this software and operate through this.

Adavantages:

- Less cost effective.
- easy-to-use software
- Encourage the employees to collaborate
- Identify the talents

  1. Hi Fatou, this is Nicole from Rent a Coder.

Your ideas are very sound and they indicate a direction in which several similar services are moving. I'd like to point out a few issues with using services like Elance since those issues could influence the success of an outsourced projects.

First, using Elance's 'time-clock' for example, workers at Elance can punch-in and out any time they want whether they're working or not. In fact, Elance's time-clock software doesn't even record worker desktops or webcams, so if companies were to use their model, they wouldn't even know whether their work was being performed at all. This is very important since companies are accustomed to using time-based pay models.

Second, Elance workers can't make more than 3 bids a month unless they pay a subscription fee ($9.95/month for 20, $19.94/month for 40 or $39.95/month for 60). This could reduce available employees.

Third, Elance isn't open on Saturdays or Sundays. In addition, Elance doesn't provide seven-day-a-week live phone support. And Elance doesn't have a requirements wizard or project posting wizard either. This type of accessibility and support is extremely important since companies will be new to making required transitions from the workplace to the virtual place.
